A New Chapter: Our Most Significant Evolution Since 2022

As many of our long-time followers know, this journey began in 2022 under unusual circumstances. Leon, a British software engineer, found himself stuck in China during COVID-19. To break the isolation of lockdowns and code, he began hunting for quirky, joy-sparking finds in local markets. He built this very site, You Can't Bring It With You, on a simple, rebellious premise: “You can’t bring wealth with you — but you can bring stories home.”

Since then, our passion has matured. We have evolved from sharing quirky novelty gifts to diving much deeper into objects that carry real history, time, and memory—vintage posters, rare books, original art, and unique cultural artifacts from China's hidden corners.

To support this deeper focus on cultural curation and dedicated sourcing, we are undergoing our most significant upgrade yet. We are transitioning our primary commercial store to our new home: The Far Found (thefarfound.com).

This is the natural next chapter of Leon’s original vision—moving from helping you create memorable moments to helping you rediscover forgotten stories embedded in rare, time-worn objects.
